HELLO!
Nice to meet you. My name is, obviously, Brian Hoover. I am not great at coding websites, so please excuse the mess.
About Me
I'm a musician, artist, game dev, and a buncha other things from central indiana.
I'll likely use this page as a blog. I want a way to have some type of social media in a world that has rapidly made me hate social media.

Feb 12 2026:
I have got brain worms so bad guys. I say that when I randomly start hyper fixating on something and cant stop, the same thing happened a few years ago when I got some bug up my ass to make a violin. I saw this picture of a Savart style flat top violin and I ended up buying a rare book on how to make them, and making one. its alright, not bad, it sounds okay. but I have unfortuanately had that happen again. real fast, the violin.
the brain worms this time, are shoe related. I wouldnt call myself a sneaker head, I like Nikes, but thats about as far as it goes. but I LOVE studying industrial design, and in that way, I love pure ergonomic design. I love how shoes are this thing that is partly aesthetic, partly designed for our eyes, and partly, by our meat. its like the aeron chair, like yes, partly you want it to look cool, but also, it has to accomodate meat and bone. I'm rambling. sorry. it's this

the idea of just having files to make something like this, for myself, by myself, as someone who is already a maker. I really like that idea. I pay for access to a nice makers space, I use it mostly for working on guitars, and 3D printing custom Bionicles and other old toys. so the idea of making my own running shoes is actually really cool. getting to know how theyre made, getting to fix them if they break down and not just spot fixes like my normal shoes but genuinely KNOWING how to fix them is very cool. plus even with having to buy the sheets of leather and foam and rubber treading for the bottom, my cost for a pair is only like $50, which is cheaper than what I usually spend on running shoes anyways. I figure once I get my little store set up to sell my guitars and other little hobby projects, I can probably offer to make shoes on there too...probably stupid idea, but I cant quit hyperfixating on it. figure once I make a pair or two maybe I'll calm down...
want to put a set of these on them too

Feb 08 2026: I am getting back into the swing of things Linux wise, good and bad. lots of stuff breaking, lots of stuff having to get fixed. trying to do things that im used to in windows, mostly its turned out alright. Got Amazon Luna up and running, got Godot installed, got my usual game making stuff working, Trenchbroom, blockbench blender, that sort of thing, the only tool for my 3D games that isnt working was Vroid, but I suppose keeping a windows copy of that running isnt the worst thing in the world. I can always just transfer the models over and rig them on here etc. getting my music software up and running has been a pain, I use Reaper, and while that has a linux version, which works fine, my audio interface doesnt want to play nice and only wants to output mono for some reason, 16 inputs but one mono output, isnt that fun. I likely will still use windows for the bulk of my recording, but it would be nice to not have to. but Jack is an actual piece of garbage, and im not sure how no one has made a better way of doing this yet. oh well, I get most people who want to seriously do music production just use Mac OS, which Ive tried, but the rest of the OS just wasnt for me, couldnt run half my games, software updates took hours, terminal commands didnt make any sense.
Been meaning to start working on a new album for over a year now. I was working on a few songs with my cousin, but she ended up flaking and never really diving in so to speak. I figured here in a few months I'll start working on some new tracks, I think I'll start doing my jam a day videos on youtube again just to get my chops back in shape as ive barely played for about 6 months now. I have a habit of doing that after I finish an album, I exorcise the demons so to speak lol. keep wanting to do an album with vocals on it, I dont HATE my voice as much as I used to, but I think Id need a few decent songs to fall back in love with it like I was in highschool. Keep floating the idea of a country album or like a folk rock album like my first 2, but with more instrumentation, but who knows, in all likelihood it'll just be another instrumental guitar album. I do want to make more music this year, I feel like I've let depression get the better of me in that respect.
same with game dev, I've been working on a game called Turboman and Gasketgirl, which is a megaman clone for about 2 years now, but I likely only have like 6 months of work in it because I keep getting depressed and falling out of love with working on it. I should really make a Neocities or something for that game, it's honestly way too good for me, someone else should make it at this point. I bit off way more than I could chew lol.
Feb 01 2026: well, that took all weekend
it took most of the weekend, but its working, and I only black screened it twice, not bad for having been out of the game so to speak for a while. Granted, was I mostly using installing Linux to avoid looking at "the horrors" etc? yea probably. the news hasnt been good. I definitely needed our church service this weekend, I should probably talk about that whole....thing, here eventually. but it was a good service, I'm going to try and imbed it here, maybe that can be something I start doing going forward. But we have a visiting pastor because ours is on vacation, and he did a great piece about the message of the lord, loving our neighbors, protecting our neighbors from oppression etc. it was good, I needed to hear that after everything in the news I think.
Brian from the future, it didnt work, just copy and paste this. I have no idea how to code stuff, very sorry

we'll see if that posts, again, still learning html. Maybe I'll go into me and Chandra coming back to the faith etc as it were...its not a long story, its just weird. Just a lot of little synchronicity looking stuff, and just Chandra having some feelings lets say since their grandmother passed away. Found a nice Lutheran Church by my old college, its a bit of a drive out, not too long I guess, but a lot for a sunday morning. but it's been good for us. the people there are really nice, and the pastor seems progressive, which was me and chans main concern. I cant imagine something worse than living through a fascist take over and having a pro fascist pastor ya know. last year we went a few times, once every few weekends, I think this year we're really going to try and go every weekend, but hey....thats like me saying I want to keep blogging like this every night, its a good goal, but....well, let's hope reality keeps up with it.
Jan 30 2026: HERE WE GO BOYS
Jan 29 2026: My better half decided they want to switch to Linux due to a lot of shit that Windows has been doing lately, and the fact their laptop has been having weird driver bugs for months now. Im honestly pretty happy about it, them switching, not the bugs. I was an Ubuntu Mate user from like 2015 until around 2018 when I won a mac at my job at Intuit. just made music production a lot easier. I love linux but theres still a few things that keep me from wanting to switch over full time. that all being said, I do miss it. Ive since switched back to windows because the remote software we use for work, has no equivilent elsewhere unfortunately. that and the mac was running pretty long in the tooth, it was starting to show its age and the drive in it was barely working anymore. thinking about using a usb3 ssd and reviving said mac with ubuntu again though, I keep seeing all these improvements theyve made to it in regards to Reaper the DAW I use, and with stuff like Photopea that can take the place of photoshop. we'll see how it goes, gotta say. genuiely starting to hate windows, I really dont think 3-4 chrome tabs should use 80% of 16gb of ram, call me crazy, but I dont think thats how computers should be. there shouldnt be so many background processes that the computer refuses to compute ya know?
Jan 28 2026: Added some new stuff, changed somethings around. I'm trying to get better at this, but I havent had a proper html class since highschool, and that was....fuck, 16 years ago? yeesh. hopefully I just dont break anything, going to google how to add tags and what not in here, since I guess neocities has those built in to help people find eachother. beyond that, works been shit as of late, I work as a pricing analyst for a trucking company, basically I look at the route, and how much gas it costs, and what the product is etc, and figure rates, make sure everyones getting paid yadda yadda yadda. nothing particularly hard, honestly its pretty much busy work a lot of the time, but the enviroment etc is stressful lately. such is life though I suppose. beyond that, been out of town so much I havent gotten a chance to work on any of my guitar projects, I'm a hobbiest Luthier, and I've been working on a telecaster and a double cut looking thing for a bit, heres a pic, guess which one is made with a router by hand and which one was on a CNC?
I really want to get the telecaster done so I can sell it, was thinking of posting them up for sale here and on reverb etc. hand wound the pickups, 3D printed the pickguards and the pickup bobbins, shellac-ing the body, whole nine, just need more time to get to my maker space to work on it unfortunately.
Nov 15 2025: after having a long look at what the web was becoming, and wanting something better, I found out that THIS place existed, and I made this site at like 2am. for about 2 months it had a generic template
I have since TRIED to get better at coding, but it is still pretty bad, I apologize
